All offers of enrollment will be pending until the IEP team’s determination of FAPE can be made.

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten Enrollment Information
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) offers children who don’t meet the age requirement for regular Kindergarten (per California law) to have an opportunity to build their readiness skills and abilities. The 2024-2025 TK program is open to children born on or before September 1, 2020. TK programs bridge Preschool and Kindergarten, and provide young learners with opportunities to learn and grow in an environment that is tailored to meet their academic and social needs. TK is the first of a two-year program. Upon completion of TK, students promote to Kindergarten.
TK is NOT a School of Choice program. It may not be available at every campus. Enrollment is handled through the District Office, and students are placed according to location, the schools where older siblings attend and available space. In the 2024-2025 school year, Transitional Kindergarten will be open to children born between September 2, 2019, and September 1, 2020. For more information, please go to our Kindergarten Programs page.
Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year is open to children born on or before September 1, 2019. If you are attending your neighborhood school (SVUSD neighborhood school Boundary Maps are HERE), enrollment packets are available after February 12 through your school. Please contact them directly for more information.
If you are considering enrolling your Kindergarten child in a school that is not your neighborhood school, you will participate in our School of Choice program. School of Choice allows families to place children in schools outside of their neighborhood boundaries as long as the target school has room for additional students. Please know that the School of Choice deadline is February 9, 2024. Applications received after the deadline will be placed on a wait list with the individual school site(s). In the 2024-2025 school year, Kindergarten will be open to children born between September 2, 2018, and September 1, 2019. For more information, please go to our Kindergarten Programs page.
Enrollment in Your Neighborhood School
Enrollment in your neighborhood school begins February 12, 2024. Just go to your school and get the needed forms and information. They will be happy to help you. We do ask that you enroll them as soon as possible because it helps us in planning for staffing needs for the upcoming year. If you need to see which school is your neighborhood school, this is the link for the Boundary Maps. Thank you and we cannot wait to meet you!
Enrollment in School of Choice/Application
Almost all of our Simi Valley Schools are considered School of Choice (SOC). (The standing exceptions to SOC are Hollow Hills Elementary School and Vista Elementary School, which are Fundamental schools; Arroyo Elementary School's Dual Language Academy; and Santa Susana High School, which is a magnet school.) As long as the school is not filled to its capacity with existing students and incoming neighborhood students, students living outside the neighborhood boundaries of a school may apply to enroll in that school, and the school may accept these students until the school is filled to capacity. If there are more applications than there are available spots for interested students, the school will conduct a random lottery to select the number of students they are able to accept.
SOC applications must be submitted online. Students living in a school's boundary area have first priority and do not need to complete a SOC application. (Please click HERE for a Boundary Area Map.)
Enrollment in a Specialized Program/School
