Laura Miner, Principal
laura.miner@simivalleyusd.org

My name is Laura Miner and I am a lifelong resident in Simi Valley. In fact, I was born in Simi Valley Hospital. I attended Simi Schools and graduated from Simi High in 1992. I support all of our students in all our high schools, but I am a true Pioneer and bleed Maroon and Gold. I have three children, Hayden, Carson, and Savannah, who attend or have attended Simi Valley Schools. My Husband, Robert, is a Ventura County Fire Captain, and is a Royal High alum. You can see our love for this community runs deep.
After graduating from California Lutheran University, I immediately began my teaching career here in Simi Valley in 1997. I have worked at Crestview Elementary School, Vista Elementary School, Santa Susana Elementary School, and now here at Sycamore Elementary School. I have taught grades 2 through 6 and Kindergarten. When I was in each grade or assignment I thought that grade or assignment was my favorite, and each holds a special place in my heart. After I earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, I served as a Literacy Coach at Santa Susana Elementary School. I am now very proud to be the Principal of Sycamore, which is a great school.
In my free time I like to be outdoors with my family. We enjoy camping, days at the lake, and taking our Jeep out for a spin. I am also a lover of all music, and incorporate it into my daily life in one way or another. On any given day you can find me singing with a microphone in my hand. I love this position and this is much more than a job to me. I have a passion for education, teaching and leading.

Hi! I started at Sycamore as a Campus Supervisor January of 2020 and then was given an opportunity to take the position as the SSA1 and have been enjoyed being part of the office since. I started my journey working with children right out of High School at a private preschool in Canoga Park for 2 years. During that time I took courses at Moorpark college for early childhood education for 2 years. Unfortunately my school closed so I decided to venture working at a local gym but still working with children in the daycare department until I was able to start a new job at a preschool in Simi and worked at that school for over 10 years until I left to become a mother of my amazing son. I was able to stay home with him until he went to school which at that time I started at a preschool in Simi and worked there until I found the position that led me to Sycamore.
Some of my favorite places to be when I am not a work is in my backyard enjoying my pool, at the beach, or traveling for my sons sports.
I love the family atmosphere we create at Sycamore, and love the positive learning environment that I provide for our students.
Bryan Bloomfield, Custodian
I was born and raised in Altadena, CA. I came to Sycamore Elementary School five years ago and am proud to have the distinction of keeping our campus beautiful. Being in charge of our campus needs both inside and outside of the classroom definitely keeps me busy!
My daughter, Nyla, attends Sycamore, and there is no other place that I would want her to be. She has grown up being part of the Skyhawk family and enjoys every minute of her time here.
